Youth development and mentoring has always been near and dear to our hearts at WDD, which is why we quickly jumped at the opportunity to help lead a computer programming class at HSE High School. Every week, one of our developers will be teaching students how to architect, develop and test real world software projects. They are working on innovative coding projects that incorporate needs from around the school community. From tracking weight, water intake and stress levels of student athletes to managing the costume inventory of the school’s theater department, these students are creating software that will make an immediate impact in their community by bettering lives through technology.

WDD provides a real world experience for students by simulating our development process and highlighting the common hurdles of creating software. Students are broken up into project teams, schedule sprint meetings and are accountable to delivering on time. The goal is with real world practice and guidance, we can help train and mentor Indy’s next generation of developers.
